FAQ

Your Questions. Answered.

Starting therapy or psychiatry can feel uncertain. These answers are here to help you feel informed, prepared, and confident as you begin.

How do I know if I need therapy or psychiatry?+

If you're transitioning out of residential, PHP, or IOP care — or finding it challenging to maintain your progress independently — ongoing support can truly make a meaningful difference. Therapy can help you build on the work you've already begun, while psychiatry can provide support for symptom stability when needed. Most clients don't have to navigate this alone; we're here to guide you toward the appropriate level of care from the very beginning.

What's the difference between a therapist and a psychiatrist?+

Therapists work with you in ongoing sessions to help process experiences, strengthen coping strategies, and support long-term recovery. Psychiatrists are medical professionals who assess mental health needs and, when necessary, prescribe and manage medication. At Holding Hope Collective, we ensure these services are fully integrated, so your care remains aligned and cohesive rather than fragmented.

Do you offer virtual sessions, in-person care, or both?+

We provide both virtual and in-person sessions to ensure consistency in care, particularly during transitions. Whether you're returning home, relocating, or adjusting to a new routine, we make sure your care continues without interruption.

Will I be prescribed medication?+

Medication is never assumed — it's always considered with great care. When you meet with our psychiatric provider, recommendations are based on your personal history, previous treatments, and current needs. If medication is part of your plan, it's seamlessly integrated with your therapy so both components work together effectively.

Do you accept insurance?+

We provide a range of options, including both insurance-based and self-pay solutions. Recognizing that many of our clients are moving from higher levels of care, our team is committed to helping you understand your benefits clearly, so you can make informed decisions without added stress. Give us a call to talk through what fits.

What happens during the first session?+

Your first session isn't a reset — it's a continuation. Before you arrive, we connect directly with your previous treatment team to review your clinical history, notes, and goals. That preparation allows your therapist to come in ready and focused, so sessions concentrate on moving forward rather than revisiting what's already been addressed.
